Nations, levies and diplomacy

A nation brings towns together without taking over their land or treasuries. Read the upkeep, invitation and departure rules before joining.

Visual overview

A nation keeps towns distinct. Explanatory diagram; complete rules follow.

Diagram of reported mechanics. The text retains the full conditions and settings.

Found a federation of towns

A mayor uses a Treaty Table in their town and pays 250,000 × index from the founding town treasury. The capital town’s mayor leads. Member towns keep their own land, residents, treasury and local policy; nation membership does not merge their plots or accounts.

The nation adds organization membership, roles, diplomacy, levies, travel access and development. Nation upkeep defaults to 10 + 2 per member town/day, indexed and prorated. An empty founding treasury is therefore a different problem from the player’s personal wallet.

Join, leave and settle debt

Nation invitations last 24 civic hours. Leaving normally gives 24-hour notice. The capital must move or the nation dissolve before that town can leave. Expulsion follows leader authority (king) by default or configured vote mode. Ending an alliance has 24-hour notice.

Levies can be flat, per claimed chunk or a share of qualifying town receipts. Default maxima are 100,000, 5,000/chunk and 50%. Unpaid levy debt remains attached to a town after departure and can block another founding/join attempt. Nation upkeep has separate 72-hour unpaid grace before dissolution; member towns are not dissolved with it.

Capacity and standing

Compact starts with a 2-town cap. Higher effective levels permit 4/8/16/32, bounded by the server’s maximum number of towns per nation. Standing grace pauses new admissions while preserving existing capacities. Existing towns are not automatically expelled when effective standing falls. Nation development separates achieved level, contributors and effective standing.

Diplomacy and communication

Relations affect civic access and travel. Hostile status does not launch an implemented siege; R5 warfare remains planned. Elections, mergers, loans and independence votes also should not be inferred from the current screen.

Town/nation-wide communication uses pigeon post; no general Town or Nation chat channels were identified. Local chat and the opt-in Culture Channel serve their own purposes. Titles are presentation/authority markers, not combat classes or separate NPC types.
