Travel, landing, EVA and recovery
Plan the return before launching. Check your reserves and route, then wait for the landing or transfer to finish before treating the journey as complete.
These guides describe the October 23, 2026 development version. The older download with the same version number is missing later features.
Explanatory diagram based on the cited report; not an in-game interface or a spatial construction plan.
Launch and land
From a planet, board an eligible fueled ship, climb to the launch threshold shown by the travel interface and request J Launch/Land. In space approach the chosen planet and request landing; proxy collision can also trigger landing. For home, select the Overworld home destination in navigation and check the route and approach messages. Permission, approach, ship state and route eligibility still apply.
Launch, landing and warp are server transactions with reservation, terrain preparation and movement journals. A route quote or approach cue does not mean the transfer committed. Current on-foot landing supports parachute descent and warns when a parachute is missing; EVA is a different movement system.
Terrain progress and autopilot
The Wave 21 project record describes a center 3×3 ready area, 30-second no-progress threshold, 180-second cap and one retry. The landing HUD reports preparation progress. These are reported source/history findings, not newly measured waits.
“Waiting for terrain” is a flight brake for unavailable client terrain. The current record limits its slowdown to horizontal movement and prefetches farther during ascent. Autopilot flies toward a selected target and stops in landing range. Its plan is lost on restart and the ship hovers. Arbitrary large-obstacle routing is not established; do not depend on it to navigate player megastructures.
EVA and descent
EVA provides zero-gravity player movement in space, with suit drift and stronger equipped thrust. This does not apply the same rules to every non-player mob. Oxygen and extreme-cold protection still matter. Parachutes and jetpack braking solve different descent problems.
Choose the recovery system that matches the loss
| State | Relevant recovery boundary |
|---|---|
| Disabled or wrecked ship | Ship recovery / salvage and wreck-cargo state; costs and eligibility differ |
| Dropped possessions | Habitat RecoveryCaches and their pull rules |
| Event Shelf loss | Increased remote-pull cost; separate from its normal return route |
| Station reconnect / exit | Station transfer journal and exit safeguards |
| Active travel reservation | Travel journal; do not assume an approach cue proves arrival |
There is no universal free return. Stations offer services according to their offers and condition. The Event Shelf has its own White Fountain return mechanism (discovery spoilers).
If a transfer fails in the installed build, retain the visible message, source/JAR identity and relevant client/server log context for its administrator. The report’s T03 disconnect/restart recovery tests remain proposed, not passed. Commands documents generated player versus administrator syntax without executing it.
