Death, corpse sickness and recovery

Your next survivor can recover the belongings left behind. Open the Deaths page before setting out: the body may have moved.

Track the remains

Death ends the survivor. Create a new one with fresh needs and no wounds; skills reset by default. Carried belongings stay together in a body for seven survival days by default.

Open the journal’s Deaths page. It records body/risen/gone state, dimension, last position and remaining time. Track adds the map target and compass arrow; it follows a risen survivor while that target moves.

A survivor who dies infected, or with corpse sickness 75+, can rise after two survival hours carrying the gear. Defeat the risen survivor and recover it from the resulting body. Do not assume the recorded death position still contains a stationary corpse.

Corpse sickness

Nearby decaying bodies can raise sickness; a suitable mask/filter reduces exposure. At sickness 50+, solid food gives 60% of its normal calories/nutrients and has a 25% vomiting chance. At 75+, solid food is refused. Drinks, soup, stew, broth and medicine remain usable.

Plan the return with safe liquids and treatment supplies. That is practical advice based on the food restriction, not a guaranteed safe route through the area.

Search without losing the distinction

Infected corpses use a take-only loot menu after searching. Repeated attacks can break one into contents and remains. Player bodies have protection against stray breaking hits. Searching also soils hands under the skin-hygiene rules.

Verification and exact fields

No new death/relog/recovery session has been run for this wiki. Settings can change despawn and rising behavior; configuration remains a default reference until pack overrides are supplied.
