Four-serving Wheatbeer path through kettle, vat and birch cask

Schematic based on the reported Brewhaven 1.4.0 rules; the text below preserves conditions and exceptions.

Prepare the workshop

Make a Journal from one book, one paper and one ink sac in a shapeless recipe. Its Workshop section provides the in-game guidance. Wheatbeer is known from the start in the documented defaults.

You need a Copper Kettle, Fermentation Vat and Birch Cellar Cask, along with a Stirring Paddle, Thermometer and Yeast Culture. The cask requires clear space two blocks wide, two tall and three deep. Use Workshop crafting for all station and tool recipes; the kettle uses four copper ingots and three iron ingots in its shaped pattern.

Load and heat the kettle

Select Wheatbeer and put exactly three wheat in total into the kettle’s ingredient slots. Add one water bucket in its auxiliary slot and at least four glass bottles in the serving-bottle slot. Clear old output before starting.

Place a lit campfire, lit soul campfire or fire immediately below the kettle and set the target to 80 degrees. The report describes an initial actual temperature of 20, increasing by one degree per loaded active second toward the setpoint. Cooking starts once actual temperature reaches 60.

The eight-minute target is cooking time, so heat-up adds to the elapsed time you spend at the station. The first twenty cooking seconds while the temperature rises from 60 to 80 can contribute temperature error.

Stir, then stop

Use cooking elapsed time for the three stir windows: 2:00, 4:00 and 6:00, each with five seconds of tolerance on either side. Stop the cooking stage at 8:00 for the target timing.

The kettle’s handling rules and failure states are described on the Copper Kettle page. Read the station status text if the batch will not start.

Ferment matching portions

Transfer the four cooked unfinished portions to the Fermentation Vat. Add one Yeast Culture and start the stage. The target is 3:00.

One culture processes one to four matching portions. Mixing incompatible portions or blocking the output prevents a valid start; extra yeast is not reserved for the batch.

Finish in birch

Move the matching fermented portions into the birch cask, start aging and finish at 2:00 of loaded time. Another wood can be accepted by the process while still applying a quality penalty. Wheatbeer does not need distillation.

Do not leave the stations expecting an offline completion. Their chunks must remain loaded for the machines to advance.

Taste and check the Journal

Each finished serving has alcohol value 5 and Gentle Recovery with a base duration of 40 seconds. Drinking returns a glass bottle. The ordinary shared cooldown is 60 ticks, or three seconds under the stated timing.

Inspect the batch’s quality and collection grade in the Journal. Quality changes can affect helpful effect duration and exposure debt; this walkthrough supplies target settings rather than guaranteeing a particular result from every attempt.

The completion check is four finished servings and a Journal record you can inspect. Exact modpack overrides and a new survival playthrough still need verification.

If a stage will not start

Check that all portions match and are at the required stage. Clear outputs and returned containers. In the kettle, use exactly three wheat, not three in every slot, and put the water and serving bottles in their dedicated slots. For the cask, clear the full 2 × 2 × 3 footprint. Keep the chunks loaded; these targets are not offline timers.

One culture covers all four matching portions in the vat. Do not add distillation to this recipe. If the batch fails, machine recovery describes the deliberate discard and container-recovery paths.
