Fermentation, distillation and cellar casks

Use matching portions at the correct stage; manage yeast, filter passes, cask wood and loaded aging time.

Brewhaven 1.4.0Java 1.21.1NeoForge

After cooking, move unfinished portions through the stages specified by their recipe. A recipe may skip fermentation, distillation or aging. Do not add a stage merely because you own its station. Each processing station accepts one to four matching portions.

Craft the stations using Workshop crafting. Start at the kettle; use machine handling when inputs, access or outputs prevent an action.

Fermentation Vat

Load one to four matching unfinished portions whose next stage is fermentation. Add one Yeast Culture and press Start. The operation consumes one culture, independent of the accepted portion count. Extra yeast stays available.

The recipe sets the exact fermentation duration. Known methods or Yeast Whisper reveal exact remaining seconds; a hidden method otherwise shows bands. Invalid stages, incompatible portions and blocked outputs prevent Start.

Copper Still

Load matching portions at the distillation stage, select 1–8 passes before Start, and supply a Charcoal Filter with enough remaining uses. The filter has 64 uses; each completed pass consumes one use, regardless of portion count. It remains reserved during the operation.

Follow both the recipe’s pass count and time per pass. Extra passes do not add servings or alcohol; pass-count error is a quality penalty. The reference entries list exact pass durations, including recipes longer than a minute per pass.

Cellar casks

Each item places a 12-block assembly, 2 wide × 2 tall × 3 deep. Clear that footprint first. The master is the clicked front-bottom-left block; the assembly extends to the placer’s right, up and away. Any part opens the master. Breaking any part removes the assembly and drops one cask item.

Load matching unfinished portions at their aging stage, Start, then Finish at the target loaded age. Early finishing is allowed; a failsafe finishes at target + 600 seconds. Patient Cellarer is snapshotted at Start and forgives only the first 120 seconds of overage. It does not forgive finishing early.

Wrong wood is allowed to start but costs 15 quality points when the recipe requires aging. Finished, sealed, spoiled and zero-aging drinks cannot begin another aging cycle. Time advances only in loaded chunks.

Completion and quality

Take the output only when its stage has completed. A drink is finished once its recipe’s stages are complete; sealing is optional packaging. Compare actual settings against quality penalties. Use sealing and serving for labels and kegs.
