Journal, discovery and HUD
Use Recipes, Effects, Workshop and Collection to track personal knowledge, pin a method and inspect batch records.
Craft a Brewer’s Journal and use it from either hand. Access is through the item; the report found no dedicated key mapping. Records belong to the player, so replacing the Journal retains knowledge.

Four tabs
| Tab | What to inspect |
|---|---|
| Recipes | Search, family/status filters, known methods, locked hints and recipe pinning |
| Effects | Tasted knowledge; untasted entries hide name/rule while retaining allowed category/duration information |
| Workshop | Equipment/process guidance and last-batch comparison; Batch Memory permits a read-only local comparison pin |
| Collection | Tasted drinks, best quality and observed grade bands |
The 19 original methods begin known. Under DISCOVER, other recipes hide details until a quality-50+ batch reveals them or a finished drink is tasted while Taster’s Focus is already active. Knowledge is information visibility, not permission to run a hidden exact mixture. OPEN reveals all methods.
HUD and controls
The condition HUD shows intoxication tier, hangover, effects/charges, private readouts and a pinned method. In a dream it adds clock and phase. After drinking, the action bar names effects, durations and intoxication added. Dream extension messages use chat so the action-bar summary does not replace them.
Machine menus have explicit controls and a status line. Their 320 × 256 canvas scrolls on short viewports using the wheel or PageUp/PageDown; F1 can pin a tooltip and buttons support keyboard focus.
Cosmetic triggers depend on the effect: sneak for Bubble Speech, sneak and swing in air for Fiddler Fingers, or hold a drink and use the Journal Toast button for Golden Toast. These are not alternate recipe-processing controls.
Optional viewers and presentation
JEI/EMI lists follow Journal unlock/reset changes and display known recipes with quantities, ordered machines, process lines, alcohol and effect count. A Fine preview item is a display, not a free crafting recipe. See pinned compatibility limits.
Costume layers do not change collision, armor or mob identity. Echo Double is a client-only delayed copy. Current localization is English; the importer’s recognition of six upstream languages is a separate feature.
Machine sounds, alerts and readable status text help you follow a batch. Client particle and audio options can soften the presentation without removing the gameplay penalties.
Historical Collection screenshots showing 190 entries predate the six dream drinks. They do not override the examined catalog count of 196.
Admin & server owner reference
Exact identifiers, original fields and source locators are preserved below. These records describe the documented mod version; they are not commands to run or proof of a new gameplay test.
